If you like deserts, the White Sands National Monument and Missile Test Range at the bottom of New Mexico is heaven. An entire sandbox full of white Gypsum sand with ever changing shapes and light is impossible to photograph in any one day. The sunsets are amazing, the afternoons can cast shadows and patterns on the dunes that you must see. There is some wildlife and even water at times. Take your gear but don't overload. A good DSLR with tripod and a zoom plus ultra-wide lens will keep you busy as long as you want. Also check schedules as the USAF actively test new technology in the area and they can close down not only the WSNP but the highway leading to it, whenever they like and its always closed on a published schedule.
